DET Forum aims to encourage the exchange of information and experiences of DET in the Asia Pacific region. This forum is developed by the participants and resource persons who took part in the Training courses for DET Facilitators, which organised by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Activities:
JICA, DET Forum, and the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia held following training courses at the Training Institute, National Council of Welfare and Social Development Malaysia in November 2010.

Follow up course for 13 DET Facilitators were held at Costa Rica from 31st May to 8th June 2011. This follow up course was organised by the project of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Reinforcement of the System of social participation of persons with disability with Community participation in Brunca Region , Republic of Costa Rica, with focus on Human Security Project.

Training of Trainers (TOT) of DET
Following is the actual programme of TOT of DET which was conducted as a part of JICA project in Kyrgyz Republic. TOT of DET in JICA projects were held between 5-6 days. TOT consists of two components; Social Model of Disability, and, Methodologies (facilitated participatory learning: presentation & facilitation skills).

Liz Carr, a wheelchair-user, is Britain’s foremost disability comedian, actress, writer and performer. A regular on the BBC’s OUCH website (where she presents a podcast and writes a regular column. Originally a DET trainer with a degree in law she now writes and performs her own material as well as acting in others plays and comedies. There are few to compare to Liz’s prodigious talents and she now

Dr Paul Darke, is an internationally respected academic, writer and cultural critic who has written and created extensively around the issue of identity and culture. He is also the originator of Normality Theory. As an artist Paul Darke is bringing, to various art forms, new insights and exciting concepts which challenge conventional views of both art and society. Kenji Kuno, PhD, is a senior advisor on disability for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and a visiting Researcher of the Centre of Excellence, Nihon Fukushi University, Japan. A coordinator of the Asia Pacific Disability Equality Training (DET) Forum.

Sue Rickell, B.A. is a Disability Equality Trainer and Consultant who lives in the United Kingdom and provides training to Disabled and Non-Disabled people all over the world. She delivers DET Training of Trainer Courses, Self Advocacy, Personal and Individual Development Courses. Sue is a Disabled Woman who has worked in the field of Equality and Development for over 25 years.
Yuko Yokotobi has been a resident representative of the Myanmar Office of the Association for Aid and Relief (AAR) Japan since 2004. She was in charge of several disability related projects in Myanmar.
